Time to get shit done.

I’ve spent more than 30 years founding and leading some of our city’s iconic businesses — venues including Matterhorn, Good Luck, San Fran and Abandoned Brewery — navigating complex regulations, managing tight budgets, and delivering under pressure. I know how to get things done. The arts, events, and creative industries aren’t luxuries — they’re vital to our competitive edge. They drive foot traffic, jobs, and civic pride.

If elected, you’ll see a councillor that listens to our communities, supports investing with purpose, and pays attention to Council financial management. We can fix the foundations — and keep our soul.

We can fix the foundations — and keep our soul.

About me.

I grew up in the Pukehīnau/Lambton Ward. I went to school here, built businesses here, and employed hundreds of people. Over three decades in hospitality, events, and manufacturing, I’ve worked with everyone from music and arts promoters to community groups — from musicians starting out in 100‑capacity rooms to international acts filling hectares at music festivals.

What I stand for.

A safer city

We need real solutions that fix problems and not just shift them to another neighbourhood. Safety comes from a coordinated approach: social support, effective policing, and community-led spaces — making all streets safe, not just one or two.

Creative economy with cultural vitality

The creative sector is not a luxury — it’s one of Wellington’s greatest economic and social strengths. From 100-seat venues to stadium shows, the arts fuel foot traffic, create jobs, build civic pride and define our identity as a city. I will work to protect and grow our network of small venues, support emerging talent, and ensure Council policies make it easier — not harder — to run creative enterprises.

A thriving arts scene doesn’t just entertain us; it strengthens our economy, improves wellbeing and keeps Wellington a city people want to live in, visit, and invest in.

Public transport corridors, not Golden Miles

Cuba Street has thrived by being left to grow organically. Courtenay Place can recover, but pouring millions into the Golden Mile isn’t the answer. Culture follows creativity — our job is to nurture it, not artificially delay the natural flow of change. Demand for buses is surging and by meeting that demand the cars and couriers will flow more freely.

Better water infrastructure & fair funding

Councils can’t keep up with infrastructure costs because they’re expected to fund more than they can afford. I’ll push for a fairer share from the Central Government — especially since they don’t pay rates on their Wellington properties. I’ll also work to protect Wellington’s new regional water services entity from privatisation.

Long-term planning, not policy whiplash

We need a 50 year plan for our city’s core issues — so that changes in political leadership refine the vision rather than tearing it up. Cycleways, for example, should be improved and re-balanced, not scrapped entirely.

Investment resilience

Our investment assets must be structured to keep working for us, even in a crisis. That means diversifying outside the region, maximising returns, and ensuring we’re prepared for climate and seismic risks. We are under insured by 2.3b because of the cost; investments outside our region reduce this liability.

My commitment to you.

If I’m elected, I’ll be a councillor who:

  • Listens to both community and business voices.
  • Works for safer streets and smarter infrastructure spending.
  • Champions the creative sector and local enterprise.
  • Brings long-term thinking to every decision.
  • Keeps Wellington affordable, liveable, and proud of itself again.
